How to Create Your Own DAO

Remember when Ethereum came out and everyone was like "Wow, this is going to change everything!" Well, guess what? They were right, and now we're taking it to the next level with DAOs. I'm not just talking about any DAOs – I'm talking about YOUR DAO, built with CreateDAO.

What's the Big Deal About DAOs?​

Before we dive into the how-to, let me tell you why this matters. DAOs are the democratized way of building organizations that the world desperately needs. Think about it – you have an idea, you create a DAO, you explain your vision, and boom! You can get initial funding and start building with a community that believes in you.

Important Note: We're in Alpha!​

I need to be super clear about something: all our contracts are currently deployed ONLY on the Sepolia testnet. We're talking alpha phase here, not even beta! So while I'm incredibly excited about what we're building, please understand that we're still testing and improving everything.

Always use the latest version of CreateDAO since older versions might contain bugs and vulnerabilities. We're moving fast and fixing things as we go!

Let's Create Your DAO!​

Alright, enough talk. Let's get to the fun part – creating your very own DAO! Head over to https://createdao.org/create-dao and you'll see a simple form. Here's how to fill it out:

Step 1: Choose Your Network​

Currently, we only support Sepolia testnet (did I mention we're in alpha?). So go ahead and select Sepolia. In the future, we'll expand to mainnet and other networks, but for now, let's keep it on the test network where mistakes don't cost real ETH.

Step 2: Choose Your Version​

ALWAYS choose the latest version. I cannot stress this enough. Each new version comes with bug fixes and improvements. Using an older version is like choosing to use Internet Explorer in 2025 – technically possible, but why would you do that to yourself?

Step 3: Name Your DAO​

This is where you get to be creative! Choose a name that reflects your vision. Something catchy, something meaningful. This name will be saved inside your contract for all eternity (or until the heat death of the universe, whichever comes first).

Remember, your DAO name is your brand, so make it count!

Step 4: Configure Your Token​

Now for the fun part – creating your own token! You'll need to provide:

• Token Name: The full name of your token (e.g., "Amazing Project Token")
• Token Symbol: A short abbreviation (3-6 characters) for your token (e.g., "APT")
• Total Supply: How many tokens you want to create in total (max: 999,999,999,999 tokens)

Pro tip: Think carefully about your token supply. Too few might limit your growth, too many might dilute value. There's no perfect number, but make it meaningful for your project.

Step 5: Connect Wallet & Sign Transaction​

Once you've filled out all the fields, connect your wallet and sign the transaction. Make sure you have some Sepolia ETH for gas fees!

What Happens Behind the Scenes?​

When you click that magical "Create DAO" button, CreateDAO springs into action and creates FOUR main core contracts for your DAO:

1. Main DAO Core: The brain of your operation, handling governance and decision-making
2. Treasury: Your DAO's bank account, securely holding assets
3. Staking: Where your community can stake tokens to participate in governance
4. ERC20 Token: Your very own token that powers everything

Here's the cool part – upon creation, YOU will receive 1 token from the total supply. The rest of the tokens will be safely locked in the treasury. This means you can start using your DAO right away, but the majority of tokens are secured for future distribution through presales, proposals, or whatever mechanism your DAO decides to use.

Creating your DAO is just the beginning of your journey. The next step is to register your newly created DAO at DAO.cafe. This is where you'll:

• Start managing your DAO with a user-friendly interface
• Launch presales to distribute tokens and raise funds
